The project involves a partnership between the NCCN, the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, and the Society of Gynecological Oncologists of the Philippines. These organizations are working to localize recommendations for several disease types, including breast, lung, and prostate cancers, as well as cervical and ovarian malignancies. The adaptations are designed to fit within the framework of the Philippines' National Integrated Cancer Control Act.
To ensure effective implementation, the NCCN hosted a summit in Manila where experts, including Professor Jacek Jassem, analyzed successful models from Poland. Dr. Hiyasmin A. Alejandro, vice president of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, emphasized that the collaboration empowers local providers by merging global clinical standards with the specific regulatory and practical realities of the Philippine healthcare system. Once finalized, the adapted guidelines will be made available for free on the NCCN website. Building on this momentum, the NCCN has signed a new agreement with the International Gynecologic Cancer Society to explore similar adaptations for gynecologic cancer treatment in other regions worldwide.
