Mass General Brigham Nurses Rally as Strike Vote Looms

On September 24, nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital will decide whether to authorize an open-ended strike. This move follows a period of stalled negotiations since August, with the union seeking limits on temporary staffing, fair wage increases, and improved health benefits. Despite reporting $2.39 billion in profits for fiscal year 2025 and providing CEO Anne Klibanski with a compensation package totaling nearly $9.2 million, the system has maintained a rigid stance at the bargaining table. Kelly Morgan, chair of the Brigham MNA Bargaining Committee, stated that the system has sufficient resources to settle fair contracts but chooses to focus on corporate interests instead of the professionals providing direct patient care.
