The addition of the admixture during the concrete batching process triggers a chemical reaction that forms an insoluble crystalline network within the structure’s pores and microcracks. This transformation renders the concrete itself impermeable, effectively eliminating the need for the labor-intensive membrane systems typically required for below-grade protection.

According to Evgeniy Artukh, Director of Penetron Slovakia, the shift simplified the construction timeline by removing the need for external waterproofing applications. Beyond initial installation, the crystalline chemistry remains dormant within the matrix, ready to reactivate if moisture encounters future hairline cracks. This self-sealing capability works to preserve the structural integrity of the Budimír homes, reducing long-term maintenance costs and protecting the foundations against moisture-related deterioration throughout the building's lifecycle.
