Houthis Target Saudi Oil Infrastructure in New Strike Claims

Yemeni Houthi forces have announced a series of coordinated strikes against Saudi oil infrastructure, claiming direct hits on the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries, as well as the Abqaiq oil field. The group also reported targeting the King Fahd and King Khalid international airports, escalating regional tensions once again.

Spokesperson Yahya Saree confirmed the assaults via social media, asserting that all targeted facilities were successfully struck. These claims follow reports of a fire at the 550,000-barrel-per-day Ras Tanura refinery earlier this week, an incident Saudi authorities previously characterized as contained. Despite the Houthi statements, Saudi officials have yet to confirm the new attacks or provide an assessment of potential damage to their oil assets.

The group further alleged a strike on the East-West pipeline, a critical artery that allows Saudi Arabia to bypass the Strait of Hormuz for crude exports. This pipeline previously suffered a two-week shutdown in September after drone strikes disabled pumping stations and halted shipments at the Yanbu port. While the kingdom has maintained export levels through tanker shifts and alternative routes, the persistence of these attacks continues to exert upward pressure on global oil prices. The Yemeni government has responded by urging the United Nations Security Council to impose punitive measures against the Houthis, citing the group's ongoing campaign against both internal and regional infrastructure.
