The program, developed in partnership with the pricing platform Onrout, allows ecommerce brands and third-party logistics providers to secure lower rates without renegotiating existing contracts. When a shipper runs a rate shop, the system evaluates package specifications—such as origin, destination, and weight—against OnTrac’s current network utilization. If the shipment aligns with spare capacity, the system returns a discounted price in milliseconds. If the criteria are not met, the shipper simply reverts to their standard contracted rate, ensuring no risk of increased costs.
Vijay Ramachandran, vice president of marketing and product strategy at OnTrac, noted that the initiative provides a way to achieve savings during non-peak periods without adding administrative overhead. The technology, built on Onrout’s bidding engine, is designed to give shippers a predictable maximum price while automating the search for better rates. Currently in a pilot phase with select customers for the 2026 peak season, the program is set for a wider launch in early 2027 for shippers who meet minimum volume requirements.
