HealthConnect One Experts to Headline Black Maternal Health Conference

Dr. Twylla Dillion, President and CEO, will lead the delegation to BMHC26, held September 10–12, 2026. Joining her are National Advocacy Manager Tiwani Oseni and Research Liaison Dr. Breana Turner. The team aims to leverage the organization's four decades of experience to influence national policy and clinical standards. The urgency of their participation follows sobering CDC data showing a maternal mortality rate of 44.8 deaths per 100,000 live births for Black women, a figure that remains starkly higher than all other demographic groups.

HealthConnect One’s sessions will focus on moving beyond traditional care models. Dr. Turner is scheduled to present on the MENTOR Framework and DoulaREADI, both of which aim to bridge the gap between community-based doula support and hospital system infrastructure. Meanwhile, Oseni will address the cultural shifts required to normalize doula care, and Dillion will outline the development of high-standard, community-centered programs. As the organization marks its 40th anniversary, the focus remains on scaling interventions that are rooted in local community trust rather than purely clinical oversight.
