AblePay Health Secures $20 Million to Tackle Patient Debt

Americans faced $591 billion in out-of-pocket medical costs last year, a 6% spike that has left both households and hospital systems searching for relief. Allentown-based AblePay Health aims to bridge this gap, announcing today it has closed a $20 million Series A round to scale its patient-focused payment platform.

The financing round was led by F-Prime, with additional backing from A1 Health Ventures and .406 Ventures. AblePay plans to deploy the capital to enhance its technology stack and broaden its network of health systems, addressing a market where traditional financing solutions remain scarce. Founded in 2016, the company provides a non-recourse payment model that guarantees accelerated revenue for providers while offering patients flexible, discounted payment options.

John Fistner, founder and CEO of AblePay, noted that the platform operates on the premise that healthcare affordability is a two-sided crisis. By automating billing and providing advocacy support, the company seeks to reduce the administrative friction that often complicates the relationship between providers and patients. Nikhil Marathe, a principal at F-Prime, cited the company’s ability to align patient financial incentives with institutional revenue stability as a key driver for the investment. As the company enters its second decade, it intends to use these funds to solidify its footprint in a sector struggling with rising medical expenses.
