Banerjea will collaborate with the San Francisco-based firm’s founders to architect a roadmap for real-time inference, moving beyond the company's current software-only model. TBC currently translates biological insights from real neurons into lightweight code that enhances existing AI infrastructures. The long-term objective involves creating hardware where biological substrates and silicon processors function in unison to handle demanding generative video and world models.
"Biological computing will not become real because of one scientific breakthrough," Banerjea stated, noting that success depends on integrating scientific discovery with robust systems architecture. His mandate includes defining technical milestones for latency, throughput, and cloud deployment, while preparing the organization to engage with hyperscalers and hardware partners. With $52.5 million in total funding secured, including a recent $25 million seed extension, the company is now positioning itself to shift from laboratory discovery to industrial-scale production. CEO Alex Ksendzovsky emphasized that Banerjea’s experience in managing global-scale technology operations at Meta and NBCUniversal is essential for transforming these experimental models into reliable, high-performance computing platforms.
