The Los Angeles event follows a successful New York debut that raised nearly $500,000 for NAMI. The play, authored by the creator of The Vagina Monologues, features a series of original monologues designed to dissect the complexities of mental health, family dynamics, and personal survival. Joining Tomei and Arquette on stage are Lois Smith, Rudy Pankow, Rob Morrow, Rachel Hilson, Colette Hayes, Luke Ferrari, and Olivia Oguma.
This initiative was developed by CAA’s Community & Impact in memory of talent manager Chris Huvane, who died by suicide after a long struggle with depression. Produced by Ruth-Ann Huvane and Tony Montenieri, the performance directs 100% of its proceeds toward NAMI’s advocacy and support programs. NAMI CEO Daniel H. Gillison, Jr. noted that the production aims to leverage the power of storytelling to dismantle stigmas surrounding mental health, providing a platform for difficult but necessary public conversations.
