In Canada, the company moved 2.94 million metric tonnes of grain and grain products during September, marking a second consecutive record-breaking month to start the 2026-2027 crop year. U.S. operations mirrored this success, delivering 2.51 million metric tonnes and 26,236 carloads. When combined, these figures represent the highest output for both the month and the three-month quarter since the carrier began tracking these specific metrics.
Elizabeth Hucker, CPKC Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bulk, attributed the performance to the coordinated efforts of railroaders and supply chain partners. This surge in productivity follows the release of the company’s 2026-2027 Grain Service Outlook Report, which detailed strategies for maintaining capacity across its 20,000-mile network. As of the eighth week of the current crop year, the railway has already transported more than 4.99 million metric tonnes of Canadian grain, signaling a robust start to the season for the transnational carrier.
