Promethean Adds On-Device AI Companion to Explain Everything App

The tool integrates into the existing workflow of the platform, which has seen over 25 million downloads globally. Educators select text, images, or drawings on the canvas, prompting the AI to produce supplemental content ranging from vocabulary lists to audio narrations and accessibility descriptions. This functionality allows teachers to adapt materials for diverse learner needs without switching between disparate software applications.

Michael Strand, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Promethean, noted that the feature aims to reduce manual administrative tasks, granting instructors more capacity to engage with students. Because the AI operates entirely offline, schools avoid the regulatory hurdles often associated with external data handling. The AI Companion is included at no extra cost for existing Explain Everything Advanced and Pro subscribers using devices running iPadOS 27 or iOS 27 and later.
