Implantica Launches RefluxStop in U.S. Amid Strong Surgeon Interest

The device offers a departure from traditional anti-reflux surgeries that wrap around the esophagus, a method often linked to complications like dysphagia or the inability to belch. This approach resonated with the 120-plus specialists who attended the panel discussion, which was moderated by Dr. John Lipham of the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

Dr. Lipham described the FDA approval as an inflection point for the treatment of GERD, a condition affecting approximately 78 million Americans. He noted that the device is backed by five years of clinical data and extensive experience from European centers. Following the session, Implantica CEO Dr. Peter Forsell reported high levels of engagement, including nearly 30 individual meetings with clinical leaders interested in integrating the procedure into their own practices.
