Singapore’s RFI Expands Leadership to Tackle Digital Finance Governance

The move signals a strategic pivot toward embedding rigorous legal and ethical standards into AI-driven assets and cross-border payment systems.

Singapore’s RFI Expands Leadership to Tackle Digital Finance Governance

The new fellows—Lawrence Loh, Eugene K.B. Tan, Louis Chen, and Farah Jaafar—bring decades of experience spanning constitutional law, capital markets, and digital policy. Their mandate is to bridge the gap between rapid technological innovation and the regulatory oversight required to maintain market trust. By engaging directly with standard-setting bodies, these experts aim to codify principles-based frameworks that ensure sustainable industry growth.

Chairman Chia Hock Lai noted that the appointments reflect the specific disciplines essential for modern financial stability. Professor Lawrence Loh, director at NUS Business School’s Centre for Governance and Sustainability, will focus on transparency index projects, while Eugene K.B. Tan, a former Nominated Member of Parliament, will address the intersection of AI policy and administrative law. Meanwhile, Louis Chen and veteran executive Farah Jaafar provide expertise in institutional governance and international capital market infrastructure. The institute maintains that these high-level additions are critical to balancing the potential of digital assets with the necessity of public accountability.
