Chicago South Side Hosts 10,000 Runners for 29th Annual Half Marathon

The course, which wound through historic neighborhoods like Kenwood and Hyde Park before finishing in Jackson Park, offered runners exclusive access to Lake Shore Drive. The diverse field included competitors ranging from toddlers in the kids' race to an 88-year-old athlete. More than 1,000 participants chose to run alongside family members, underscoring the event's role as a communal tradition rather than purely competitive pursuit.

Allison Humbert Wilkinson, Associate Marketing Director at Life Time, noted that the high volume of first-time racers reflects a broader shift in how individuals approach fitness as a lifelong journey. Beyond the race day logistics, Life Time utilizes these events to anchor its regional presence, which currently includes 16 luxury athletic country clubs in the Chicagoland area. This race marks the second leg of the Life Time Chicago Half Marathon Series, rewarding dedicated participants with a commemorative third medal for completing both events. The organization continues to expand its footprint, with a new destination scheduled to open in Naperville in early 2027.
