The King of Trash Documentary Concludes California Screening Tour

The documentary highlights the evolution of California Waste Solutions, tracing David Duong’s path from his escape following the fall of Saigon to his founding of a major environmental services firm. The Saturday, September 26 event at AMC Eastridge will feature an appearance by Duong and director Errol Webber, marking the end of a series that has generated significant interest among immigrant communities who see their own histories reflected in the Duong family narrative.

Beyond the screen, the film offers a rare look at the grit required to manage municipal waste. It details the pre-dawn labor, complex logistics, and mechanical maintenance that keep cities like Oakland and San Jose operational. As Michael Duong, President of the company, notes, the film aims to bridge the gap between routine service and public understanding of the industry. Following the San Jose event, one final screening is scheduled for October 3 at AMC Bay Street in Emeryville before the production moves toward its official global release.
