Crews and contractors tackled the recovery effort by clearing tons of mud and replacing mangled water mains and service lines in the Ages and Brookside areas. Beyond technical repairs, the company supplied bottled water to residents while infrastructure remained offline. Ronnie Williams, manager of the Black Mountain Utility District, credited the swift arrival of equipment and personnel for the successful turnaround.

Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley noted the scale of the destruction, admitting he initially feared a much longer timeline for restoration. Rob Burton, president of Kentucky American Water, emphasized the company’s role in assisting neighboring utilities during regional emergencies. This intervention highlights the logistical capabilities of the utility provider, which operates across 14 states and maintains a workforce of 7,000 professionals to manage critical water infrastructure.
