Onur Erzan to Succeed Seth Bernstein as AllianceBernstein CEO

After a decade of steering AllianceBernstein through a period of intense structural transformation and asset growth, CEO Seth Bernstein will retire on March 31, 2027. His successor, current President Onur Erzan, takes the helm on April 1, 2027, as the firm pivots toward an increasingly integrated global wealth management strategy.

Bernstein leaves behind a firm fundamentally altered from its roots as a traditional active public market manager. During his tenure, assets under management ballooned to over $919 billion by August 2026, supported by the relocation of the company’s headquarters to Nashville and the successful spin-off of Bernstein Research into a joint venture with Societe Generale. Despite his retirement from the executive role, he will remain a member of the Board of Directors to ensure continuity.

Erzan, who joined the firm in 2021 following a two-decade tenure at McKinsey & Company, has been a primary architect of AB’s recent expansion into private credit, active ETFs, and insurance-asset management. As he prepares to take charge, he faces a rapidly shifting landscape where clients increasingly demand integrated, multi-asset solutions. Equitable Holdings CEO Mark Pearson cited Erzan’s deep experience in both insurance and asset management as the primary driver for his appointment, signaling a continued focus on the partnership between the two entities.
