Global Leaders Target $1 Trillion Gap in Women's Health Care

With the World Economic Forum projecting a $1 trillion annual economic drag by 2040, international delegates gathered in New York to demand a shift from episodic care to integrated, scalable health systems for women, arguing that long-term prosperity hinges on prioritizing female physical and mental well-being.

Global Leaders Target $1 Trillion Gap in Women's Health Care

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Burjeel Holdings convened experts from government, finance, and philanthropy to address the systemic underfunding of women's healthcare. HRH Ambassador Reema Bandar Al-Saud stressed that health outcomes cannot be left to chance if nations expect women to drive future economic growth. The discussion underscored that current models often fail to account for the interconnected nature of women's health, which spans reproductive care, cardiovascular health, and cancer prevention.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, CEO of Burjeel Holdings, pointed to clinical successes in the UAE—specifically declining cervical cancer rates—as proof that targeted, evidence-based investments yield measurable results. The group is now developing integrated delivery models in Saudi Arabia, which they intend to export to the Global South. Khadija Rejto of the Atria Research and Global Health Institute noted that while investors have historically sidelined women's health as a niche market, the sector now represents one of the fastest-growing opportunities globally, provided that systems incorporate advanced technology and sustained, long-term funding.
