Crowley Partners with Junior Achievement to Train Puerto Rico Students

The program integrates Junior Achievement’s readiness curriculum into public schools that offer technical education. Students aged 15 to 19 will gain practical exposure through mentorship, networking, and direct industry engagement. This initiative builds on a recent visit to the Isla Grande terminal in San Juan, where nearly 60 students toured the ConRo vessel Taino to observe maritime operations firsthand.

Beyond the funding, Crowley employees will lead career panels and job-shadowing sessions to provide students with professional insights into the labor market. Francheska Bensan, Crowley’s vice president of HR and talent strategy, noted that the partnership aims to help young people envision long-term professional futures on the island. The effort is supported by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, which seeks to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world workplace application. Since 2022, the broader collaboration between Crowley and Junior Achievement has reached approximately 9,000 students across the U.S. mainland and Central America.
