USPS Unveils New Holiday Cookie Stamps

A Christmas tree, a jolly Santa, a gift, and a striped stocking: the U.S. Postal Service has launched its latest "Christmas Cookies" Forever stamps. Unveiled at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, the new collection commemorates a holiday tradition that evolved from ancient solstice festivals into a staple of modern American kitchens.

The stamps arrive as part of a recurring seasonal series, following similar releases in 2005 and 2017. To capture the aesthetic, art director Greg Breeding commissioned designer Kyrie Johnson to bake and decorate the actual cookies, which were then photographed by Sarah Cramer Shields. The process proved delicate, as the team navigated the fragility of the baked goods during transit, eventually relying on post-production retouching to mend minor shipping cracks.

Each of the four designs features a distinct holiday motif rendered in icing, set against contrasting red and blue backgrounds. The stamps are issued in booklets of 20 and are available immediately at post offices nationwide and through the official online store. As Forever stamps, they remain valid for current First-Class Mail 1-ounce postage regardless of future price changes.
