The capital injection funds an intensive exploration and infrastructure push at the Superior, Arizona site. Major Drilling America will deploy four high-capacity rigs, including two next-generation LF-300 units, to conduct deep-hole diamond core drilling from both the surface and 6,800 feet underground. These rigs utilize automated rod handling to minimize human contact with heavy machinery.
Simultaneously, Nevada-based Redpath USA is tasked with reconfiguring two existing 7,000-foot-deep shafts and excavating a new mine station at the 6,800-foot level. This underground expansion includes the construction of 1,500 feet of tunnels, maintenance shops, and specialized bays for production equipment. The operation is expected to generate 100 full-time roles, with recruitment for the first 50 positions already active across engineering, geology, and mechanical trades.
President and General Manager Vicky Peacey stated that the federal land exchange process has acted as a catalyst for these commitments. Beyond local job creation, the company is evaluating the potential to link the mine with Rio Tinto’s Kennecott smelter in Utah, creating a domestic mine-to-metal supply chain. While this work advances, a final investment decision remains pending, contingent on ongoing data collection, state permitting, and final partner approvals.
