Syracuse-based drone manufacturer Modovolo is slashing development cycles by integrating BQP’s quantum-inspired simulation software into its design pipeline. By replacing traditional trial-and-error methods with the BQPhy platform, the company has unlocked the ability to optimize complex geometries—such as 3D-printed propellers—at speeds previously unreachable using standard computational tools.

Traditional aerospace engineering often stalls when faced with the sheer volume of variables required for high-performance design. For Modovolo, the challenge lay in the inefficiency of existing CFD and structural tools, which frequently trapped engineers in "local minima" and required weeks of compute time to iterate a single viable propeller design. BQPhy’s QuantumNOW solver changes this dynamic by running quantum-inspired algorithms on existing GPU infrastructure, allowing for the simultaneous evaluation of thousands of design iterations.

This shift has provided a tangible competitive advantage for the startup. By leveraging the computational muscle of BQP, the engineering team can now analyze an almost infinite number of stress points and aerodynamic variables across a blade surface. According to CTO Arion Mangio, this capability resolved immediate performance bottlenecks and established a scalable framework for future UAV systems. CEO Justin Call noted that the partnership has already yielded measurable improvements in flight time and payload capacity, proving that quantum-inspired software can deliver immediate ROI in heavy manufacturing.
