The Colorado Springs-based operator reported a 5% increase in Adjusted EBITDAR, reaching $31.7 million for the quarter ending June 30. Growth was largely anchored by the US West segment, where the Nugget Casino Resort saw a 93% surge in Adjusted EBITDAR, mirroring its strong performance in the first quarter of the year. The US Midwest segment also contributed to the positive momentum, with an 8% rise in revenue.
Despite the domestic strength, Century Casinos recorded a net loss of $10.9 million, or $0.39 per share, for the quarter. Co-CEOs Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger noted that results were dragged down by operations in Poland, which suffered from low table hold during June. Management expressed optimism that the Polish segment is showing early signs of recovery, though the company continues to navigate a complex balance sheet that includes $336.5 million in outstanding debt and significant long-term obligations under its master lease with VICI Properties.
