Coolita and Indonesian Broadcasters Launch First FAST Media Alliance

Broadcasters and technology firms have formed the Indonesia FAST Media Alliance in Jakarta to accelerate the shift toward free ad-supported streaming television. Initiated by Coolita and the China Intercontinental Communication Center, the coalition aims to modernize local television distribution while maintaining the traditional free-to-air viewing experience for audiences.

The alliance unites major Indonesian players including TVRI, Metro TV, GARUDA TV, BTV, Jawa Pos Multimedia, and JAKTV, with Tencent Cloud providing the necessary technical infrastructure. By leveraging the FAST model, these broadcasters intend to extend their reach into connected TV environments, allowing them to distribute local content through digital channels that mirror the familiarity of linear television.

Coolita, which currently serves over five million users in Indonesia through its smart TV platform, will play a central role in the transition. The partnership focuses on collaborative channel development and international media cooperation. Announced during the China–Indonesia Youth Cultural Exchange Series, the initiative serves as an open platform designed to invite further participation from content owners and industry stakeholders as the national media landscape adapts to digital-first consumption habits.
