Thomson Reuters Boosts Annual Outlook as Revenue Growth Hits 9%

Thomson Reuters reported a 9% revenue increase for the second quarter of 2026, fueled by strong demand across its core professional segments. The company responded to this momentum by raising its full-year growth targets, while simultaneously finalizing a strategic joint venture to spin off its Global Print business to KKR.

Thomson Reuters Boosts Annual Outlook as Revenue Growth Hits 9%

The company’s "Big 3" segments—Legal Professionals, Corporates, and Tax, Audit & Accounting Professionals—remained the primary growth engine, delivering 10% organic revenue growth. This performance prompted leadership to lift its full-year 2026 outlook for both total and organic revenue growth to approximately 8%. The Legal Professionals segment specifically saw recurring revenue climb 9%, bolstered by the adoption of Westlaw and the CoCounsel AI platform.

Capital management remains a central theme for the firm, which completed a $605 million capital return and a $600 million share repurchase program earlier this year. Looking ahead, Thomson Reuters is narrowing its operational focus toward content-powered AI solutions. The planned sale of a 51% stake in the Global Print business to KKR is expected to close in the fourth quarter, providing the company with roughly $500 million in gross proceeds to further support its transition into a more specialized, technology-driven enterprise.
