John Hancock Premium Dividend Fund Details July Distribution Sources

The John Hancock Premium Dividend Fund (NYSE: PDT) has disclosed the composition of its July 2026 distribution, revealing that 67% of the $0.0883 per share payment stems from a return of capital, while 33% is derived from net investment income.

John Hancock Premium Dividend Fund Details July Distribution Sources

The distribution, paid to shareholders of record as of July 13, follows the fund’s established managed distribution plan. Under this framework, the fund provides fixed monthly payments, which the management team emphasizes should not be conflated with total investment performance or yield.

For the current fiscal year-to-date period beginning November 1, 2025, the fund reports a different breakdown: 72% of distributions came from net investment income, 3% from short-term capital gains, and 23% from long-term capital gains, with only 2% attributed to return of capital. Management noted that these figures are estimates and not final for tax reporting purposes. Shareholders will receive formal documentation via Form 1099-DIV at the end of the calendar year to clarify the tax status of these payments.
