MeetKai Brasil Secures SERPRO Sovereign AI Contract

The "IA Soberana" tender concluded on June 26 following intensive technical assessments and a rigorous qualification phase. MeetKai Brasil outperformed competing bidders, securing the highest overall score for technical functionality and its ability to scale AI deployment across the federal government. The initiative aligns with the broader "IA para o Bem de Todos" plan, which earmarks R$23 billion for national AI development through 2028.

James Kaplan, CEO of MeetKai, emphasized that the partnership aims to deliver secure, multilingual models capable of operating on domestic infrastructure. By training systems specifically in Portuguese, the project seeks to improve public-sector decision-making and automate administrative workflows. Peter John Alexander, President of MeetKai, noted that the firm intends to use this contract as a springboard to expand its footprint throughout the region, setting a new benchmark for public-sector AI governance.
