Peter Unanue, co-president of Goya Foods, emphasized the company’s mandate to assist in recovery efforts, citing the necessity of supporting both the affected citizens and the emergency responders currently operating on the ground.
Since its founding in 1936, the company has integrated humanitarian aid into its corporate model, frequently pivoting to address food insecurity following natural disasters. By utilizing established supply chains and collaborating with GEM, Goya intends to bypass traditional distribution bottlenecks to ensure that essential provisions reach the most isolated communities. This donation marks the latest in a series of interventions by the food manufacturer, which has a 90-year history of responding to regional crises ranging from hurricanes to wildfires.
