Andrea Hwang Joins Debevoise & Plimpton to Bolster Finance Practice

Hwang arrives with nearly twenty years of experience in the sector, transitioning from a partnership at a competing international law firm. Her expertise centers on advising corporate borrowers and portfolio companies on sophisticated transaction structures. The move aligns with the firm’s broader strategy to scale its leveraged finance division amid a period of renewed transactional activity among its institutional clients.

Peter Furci, presiding partner at Debevoise, emphasized that the firm is prioritizing both organic growth and lateral hiring to keep pace with client demand. Ryan Rafferty, co-chair of the Leveraged and Corporate Finance practice, noted that Hwang’s ability to lead negotiations and execute complex deals provides a necessary boost to the firm’s existing bench strength. Hwang, a graduate of UCLA School of Law, cited the firm’s collaborative culture and its specific commitment to the private capital market as primary drivers for her decision to join the team.
