Siemens and IFS Partner to Bridge Industrial AI and Factory Reality

Manufacturers often struggle with a persistent disconnect between engineering design and actual plant floor operations. Siemens and IFS are now launching a strategic partnership that aims to close this gap, using industrial AI to synchronize product lifecycle data with real-world maintenance and production performance.

The collaboration unites Siemens' expertise in engineering, simulation, and manufacturing execution with IFS’s focus on enterprise asset management and field service. By integrating these systems, the companies plan to build a closed-loop digital twin that functions as a secure, auditable data fabric. This structure allows manufacturers to feed real-world operational performance back into the design phase, effectively turning theoretical engineering intent into measurable production outcomes.

Tony Hemmelgarn, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasized that industrial AI only provides genuine value when grounded in both design specifications and field performance. His counterpart at IFS, Mark Moffat, noted that the partnership specifically targets the limitations of generic AI models, prioritizing high-accuracy, agentic systems that avoid the risks of hallucinations in critical industrial environments. The combined platform seeks to reduce unplanned downtime and supply chain disruptions by ensuring that factory equipment performs exactly as it was modeled to operate.
