The appointment signals a shift for the company as it seeks to integrate deep academic rigor into its core pillars: original animation IP, digital museums, and the Fernie Castle Animation Museum and Oriental Garden. By bringing a specialist in Ming and Qing dynasty literati culture to the board level, MDJM intends to move beyond superficial design, aiming instead for a more authentic expression of Eastern philosophy and spatial aesthetics.
Professor Campbell, who has held research roles at institutions including The Huntington Library, will serve in a non-executive capacity. His mandate encompasses providing high-level academic guidance on the company’s cross-cultural narratives and the philosophical framing of its Oriental Garden project. He will consult on key development phases, including design refinement and the creation of an international cultural education framework, ensuring that the company's physical infrastructure aligns with global standards of historical and cultural scholarship.
