Ontario Airport expects steady holiday traffic with 123,000 travelers

The six-day travel window will reach its height on Thursday, July 2, with 21,996 passengers expected, followed by a sharp dip in activity on Independence Day itself. Airlines have adjusted for the seasonal surge by providing 161,995 total seats, a 2% increase in capacity compared to the same period in 2025.

Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, attributed the sustained interest to the airport's focus on convenience and network accessibility. Looking ahead, airport officials project serving more than 2.2 million passengers throughout the summer months. Currently ranked by J.D. Power as the second most popular mid-sized airport in the country, the facility continues to serve as a key aviation gateway, connecting the region to two dozen destinations across the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and Taiwan.
