Gulfport Energy and Mobility Global Enter S&P SmallCap 600

Two companies are set to join the S&P SmallCap 600 index next month as S&P Dow Jones Indices executes a pair of shifts in its market-cap lineup. The reshuffle, triggered by corporate acquisitions and spin-offs, will see new entrants replace incumbents in the energy and healthcare sectors starting July 1.

Gulfport Energy and Mobility Global Enter S&P SmallCap 600

Gulfport Energy Corp. takes the spot vacated by Select Medical Holdings Corp. on July 1. The change follows the pending acquisition of Select Medical, which has rendered the healthcare firm ineligible for its current index position. Trading for the incoming energy company begins under its existing ticker, GPOR, at the market open.

The following day, Mobility Global Inc. joins the index, replacing Core Laboratories Inc. This addition stems from a spin-off transaction involving S&P 500 constituent S&P Global Inc. The index provider removed Core Laboratories after determining the firm no longer accurately represents the small-cap market segment. These adjustments reflect the ongoing recalibration of market indices to account for structural changes in corporate ownership and sector representation.
