The facility will launch with an initial capacity of 7.5 MW, though plans allow for scaling up to 100 MW. Located near the Miramar high-voltage substation, the site benefits from direct access to AXIA’s energy grid, ensuring the reliability required for high-density AI processing. This partnership relies on a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, aligning the project with the sustainability goals highlighted by Belém’s selection as the host city for COP30.
Alessandro Lombardi, CEO of Elea, noted that the expansion serves to reduce digital inequality by providing a strategic alternative to the existing hub in Fortaleza. By integrating with the Norte Conectado program and international fiber routes, the project creates a more resilient path for data traffic between Europe and Latin America. Ítalo Freitas, Vice President of AXIA, added that the company’s portfolio of 81 plants provides the firm, clean energy necessary to sustain such large-scale digital growth in a remote, critical region.
