New England Biolabs and seqWell Partner on TnX Transposase Launch

New England Biolabs and genomic workflow pioneer seqWell have entered a strategic partnership to commercialize the TnX Transposase. Under the new agreement, NEB gains co-exclusive rights to distribute the enzyme and will integrate the technology into its own suite of molecular biology kits, aiming to improve consistency in genomic research.

New England Biolabs and seqWell Partner on TnX Transposase Launch

The TnX Transposase (Unloaded) simplifies the tagmentation process by allowing researchers to perform nucleic acid fragmentation and adaptor insertion in a single step. By supplying the enzyme without preloaded adaptors, the companies provide a platform-agnostic tool that supports custom assay development and single-cell workflows. This flexibility allows scientists to design their own transposomes using specific mosaic-end oligonucleotides.

Isaac Meek, Director of Business Development at NEB, noted that the collaboration addresses common industry pain points regarding lot variability in unloaded Tn5 transposases. By leveraging NEB’s manufacturing infrastructure and quality control standards, the product is intended to offer higher reproducibility for complex research applications. Joe Mellor, Chief Scientific Officer at seqWell, added that the partnership aims to expand access to high-performance sequencing tools by combining seqWell’s specialized enzyme technology with NEB’s global distribution reach.
