Plex and Fandango Link Movie Discovery to Theatrical Tickets

Plex is bridging the gap between digital discovery and cinema attendance through a new integration with Fandango. Starting today, U.S. users browsing film pages on the streaming platform can access direct links to purchase tickets for movies currently in theaters, turning passive browsing into immediate theater-going action.

The partnership leverages Plex’s substantial audience data, where over 45 million users maintain active watchlists and make more than 100 million streaming decisions monthly. By embedding Fandango’s ticketing interface directly into title pages, the platform aims to capture high-intent moviegoers at the exact moment they decide what to watch.

For film studios and advertisers, the collaboration offers a measurable advantage. Using attribution tools from Kochava, marketers can track how specific campaigns and audience engagement on Plex translate into actual ticket sales across Fandango’s network of 31,000 U.S. screens. Scott Olechowski, Chief Product Officer at Plex, stated that the goal is to make the platform a central hub for entertainment, regardless of where content is hosted. Jerramy Hainline, EVP at Fandango, added that connecting discovery signals with transactional capability simplifies the consumer journey from interest to the box office.
