The 13-week competition at Wellington International continues to outperform other major South Florida sporting events. By comparison, the festival's $607.3 million impact significantly eclipses the estimated $550 million generated by the F1 Miami Grand Prix and dwarfs local staples like the Cognizant Classic, which brought in $40 million. Over the last three years alone, the festival has contributed $1.5 billion to the county’s gross domestic product.
Horse-related expenses remain the core engine of this economic activity. Nonresident participants spent $230.7 million on stabling, veterinary services, and training, a 12.3% rise from 2025. This specialized spending supported 3,583 jobs and generated $110.2 million in labor earnings. Beyond the stables, the event’s reach extends into the local hospitality sector, accounting for 172,899 paid room nights as participants stayed for an average of 61 nights.
Michael Stone, President of Wellington International, noted that the consistent growth reflects the event's status as a global equestrian destination. With the average weekly spending per horse climbing to $4,381, local businesses benefit from a sustained demand that persists throughout the winter season. The study, commissioned by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, confirms that the influx of visitors remains a vital component of the region’s fiscal health.
