Louise Birritteri named among 2026's most ambitious business leaders

With a 2,024% surge in gross written premiums between 2023 and 2025, Pikl founder Louise Birritteri has secured a spot on The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders list. The recognition highlights her role in transforming insurance from a defensive tool into a catalyst for global travel market growth.

Louise Birritteri named among 2026's most ambitious business leaders

Birritteri launched the Norwich-based startup to address a persistent failure in the short-term rental sector: the inability of property management companies to offer flexible guest cancellations without incurring heavy financial losses. By reframing insurance as a revenue growth partner, Pikl allows companies to absorb risk while simultaneously capturing new bookings. This strategic shift pushed the company to capture 20% of the UK market in just two years, facilitating revenue growth of up to 2.1x for its partners.

The LDC programme, supported by Lloyds Banking Group and The Times, identifies entrepreneurs who demonstrate both significant past progress and the scalable potential to dominate their sectors. For Birritteri, the accolade validates a business philosophy centered on risk intelligence. As the company eyes international expansion, the focus remains on leveraging proprietary data to stabilize the volatile short-term rental landscape. John Garner, Managing Partner at LDC, noted that these leaders are distinguished not just by current success, but by the specific ambition required to navigate and scale through complex market environments.
