Minisforum Expands Local AI Hardware with 192GB Unified Memory Workstation

With the launch of the MS-S1 MAX-P495, Minisforum is pushing the boundaries of edge computing by packing 192GB of unified memory into a compact workstation. The system, designed to handle massive local language models, marks the company's shift toward scalable, cluster-ready AI hardware for developers and research teams.

Minisforum Expands Local AI Hardware with 192GB Unified Memory Workstation

The MS-S1 MAX-P495 features the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, built on the Zen 5 architecture. With 16 cores and 32 threads reaching speeds of 5.2GHz, the unit delivers 131 TOPS of total AI compute. A critical upgrade from its predecessor, the 395 model, is the expansion of the memory pool: users can now allocate up to 160GB to VRAM, a significant boost that allows the machine to run 300B-class large language models locally.

Testing confirms the workstation can process DeepSeek V4 Flash 284B at roughly 12 tokens per second. Beyond standalone performance, Minisforum has engineered the hardware for multi-node scalability. By linking units, users can form clusters capable of running even larger models, such as the 671B DeepSeek-R1, via 2U rack deployments. This shift aims to bridge the gap between individual desktop AI development and enterprise-grade infrastructure. Pre-orders are currently open at $7,399, with shipping scheduled to commence in mid-October.
