The new venture, backed by the firm's second bioenergy fund, focuses on converting agricultural waste into sustainable fuel. Each of the 20 planned facilities is projected to process between 60,000 and 100,000 tonnes of feedstock annually. Once fully operational, the platform is expected to generate approximately 1 TWh of biomethane, enough to supply the annual energy needs of roughly 60,000 Italian households.
Strategic development is concentrated in regions including Lombardy, Abruzzo, and Campania. According to Andreas F. Brandt, a partner at CIP, the initiative positions the firm to support Italy’s 2030 energy transition targets by replacing imported fossil gas with locally sourced alternatives. The project combines CIP’s technical expertise in energy infrastructure with the operational knowledge of Via Verde’s local team, aiming to capitalize on favorable regulatory conditions for renewable gas in Italy.
