PackGene Validates Scalable AAV Production for Dyno Therapeutics

At the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa, Houston-based PackGene Biotech confirmed the successful delivery of three client projects at 10L scale. By utilizing its proprietary π-Alpha 293 AAV platform, the company proved its capacity to manufacture high-quality gene therapy material across five distinct, next-generation capsids.

PackGene Validates Scalable AAV Production for Dyno Therapeutics

The milestone marks a significant expansion of PackGene’s role within the Dyno Frontiers Network, an ecosystem designed to accelerate gene therapy development. Since joining the network earlier this year, the manufacturer has stress-tested its platform across five different Dyno-engineered capsids and two distinct transgene payloads. The process, which relies on suspension cell culture and column-based downstream purification, consistently yielded full/empty capsid ratios exceeding 80 percent.

These results address a persistent bottleneck in the industry: the difficulty of translating novel, highly engineered capsids into repeatable, large-scale manufacturing workflows. According to Xin Swanson, Chief Strategy Officer at PackGene, the ability to bridge this gap is essential for advancing preclinical programs toward human clinical trials. The company is currently continuing studies on additional capsids, with further data expected before the end of the year. PackGene provides services ranging from research-grade vector development to full GMP production, having already supported over 60 clinical programs and delivered 150 GMP batches to date.
