The investment round, which also includes backing from IronArc and SquarePeg, arrives as Supabase reports a surge in platform activity. Currently, the company adds over 1 million users and 4 million databases each month, with 70% of those databases generated by AI agents rather than human developers. CEO Paul Copplestone noted that the partnership with CapitalG provides strategic access to the Alphabet ecosystem, which the company intends to utilize as it transitions into a primary backend provider for agentic workloads.
By acquiring Turso, Supabase gains specialized architecture designed for high-volume, low-cost database provisioning. This technology allows developers to deploy isolated databases instantly without the overhead of individual machine management—a necessity as AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex accelerate software development cycles. Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as Head of Agentic Services, bringing his team to oversee the integration of Turso’s capabilities into the broader Supabase platform. For the founders, this expansion serves a dual purpose: supporting the infrastructure demands of modern AI builders while providing liquidity to employees.
