The MRG-D5000 marks a milestone as the first G-SHOCK to feature a shock-resistant design built around sapphire crystal components. To prevent the cracking typically associated with rigid materials, engineers developed the MR-G Multi-Guard Structure. By removing the standard screws and analyzing impact force transmission, the watch maintains its legendary durability without compromising the clarity of the blue sapphire. The case back, also set with sapphire, bears an individual serial number to denote its limited status.
Beyond the flagship model, Casio is expanding its sapphire-focused lineup with two additional entries. The MRG-B5000SA features two-carat, facet-cut blue sapphire crystals at the case’s top and bottom, complemented by a super-hard alloy bezel and blue arc ion plating. Meanwhile, the GMW-B5000SB brings a metallic finish to the series, incorporating sapphire stones at four distinct points on the bezel. Each piece reflects the brand's 1996 commitment to merging industrial toughness with high-end craftsmanship.
