EClinCloud Expands eCOA Platform to 177 Countries Amid Rise in Global Trials

The expansion reflects a broader industry shift toward multi-regional clinical trials (MRCTs), which have become essential for modern drug development. According to EClinCloud’s internal registry analysis, China-inclusive trials have increased fivefold over the last decade, with the median study now spanning 15 countries and 90 facilities. This geographic dispersion creates significant operational hurdles, particularly in maintaining consistent endpoint data across different languages, rater qualifications, and hardware requirements.

To address these challenges, the platform integrates all five major classes of clinical outcome assessment—including patient-reported, clinician-reported, and electronic diary inputs—onto a single digital backbone. By providing end-to-end scale management, which covers copyright licensing, linguistic validation, and rater training, the company mitigates the risk of data drift. Michael Qin, founder and CEO of EClinCloud, noted that the primary difficulty in global trials is not the questionnaire itself, but ensuring consistency in every device and language simultaneously across dozens of borders. The system is designed to adhere to major data-protection frameworks, including GDPR, HIPAA, and China’s PIPL, ensuring that clinical results remain compliant regardless of where they are captured.
