Avisi Technologies to Unveil Two-Year Glaucoma Trial Results

The VITA trial, a prospective, multi-center study conducted across three sites in South Africa, evaluated the performance of the VisiPlate shunt in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. Dr. Myers, who serves as the director of the Wills Eye Hospital Glaucoma Service, will deliver his presentation on Sunday, October 11, at the event’s poster theater.

Beyond the primary trial data, Avisi Technologies will host additional programming at booth #1255 on October 10. These sessions include a technical discussion on the device's metamaterial design and surgical implementation, featuring a panel of experts such as Dr. Eydie Miller-Ellis, president of the American Glaucoma Society, and Dr. Joseph Panarelli of NYC Retina. The VisiPlate device utilizes redundant microchannels to address common surgical failures like scarring and occlusion, aiming to provide a more durable alternative to traditional glaucoma interventions.
