Harmonic and Comcast Partner to Launch Recon Fiber Monitoring Suite

The Recon solution builds upon the XMFR fiber monitoring technology originally engineered for Comcast’s internal operations. By combining in-network hardware with cloud-based software, the system provides real-time visibility into access, metro, and core network segments. The platform also integrates with Harmonic’s cOS SensAI intelligence fabric to automate fault detection and validate repairs, a move aimed at reducing the diagnostic burden on field technicians.

Yaniv Ben-Soussan, Senior Vice President of Cloud and Intelligence Platform at Harmonic, noted that the product addresses the industry-wide struggle to identify minor network issues before they escalate into service-impacting events. For Comcast, the partnership serves as a vehicle to commercialize internal innovations. Elad Nafshi, Chief Network Officer at Comcast, stated that the goal is to provide other infrastructure providers with the same smarter monitoring capabilities that his teams use to manage their own large-scale fiber footprint. Harmonic plans to showcase the system at the SCTE TechExpo26 event.
