SAS Secures Leader Status in 2026 IDC MarketScape Assessment

The research firm IDC has named SAS a Leader in its 2026 worldwide vendor assessment for decision intelligence platforms. The recognition centers on the company's Intelligent Decisioning software, a cloud-native tool designed to unify data, AI models, and business rules within governed flows across hybrid and on-premises environments.

Megha Kumar, IDC Research Vice-President, noted that the platform addresses a critical gap for enterprises: the need for decision logic that remains explainable, auditable, and defensible to regulators. As organizations weigh how much autonomy to grant AI, the transparency of an agent’s logic becomes a primary requirement for human oversight.

The IDC MarketScape report specifically pointed to the platform’s hybrid architecture as a key advantage, allowing the same logic to execute in subsecond real time or high-volume batch processing without the need for duplicate coding. Furthermore, the software integrates native entity resolution and graph-based network analysis, features originally engineered for fraud and financial crime detection. These capabilities allow firms like S-Bank and Gjensidige Baltics to incorporate complex relationship data directly into their decision-making processes.

Albert Qian, market strategy lead for decision intelligence at SAS, emphasized that the platform is intended to scale human judgment rather than replace it. By ensuring that decision logic remains consistent regardless of whether it is deployed on the cloud, at the edge, or on-premises, the software aims to minimize the technical friction that often slows down regulatory compliance and organizational productivity.
