The system replaces traditional in-clinic visits for prescribed monitoring by allowing patients to wear the M•wrap device at home. Embedded electrodes capture fetal and maternal heart signals, which are then transmitted to a digital platform for remote review by healthcare providers. Patients can track their own data through a companion app, providing a continuous feedback loop that aims to bridge the gap between routine prenatal appointments.
CEO Ann Holder described the clearance as a pivot point for the firm, which was founded in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. By extending monitoring into the home, the platform intends to alleviate the burden on health systems currently struggling with maternity care access. Data from the March of Dimes indicates that one in three U.S. counties now qualifies as a maternity care desert, a trend that complicates access for millions of women. With this clearance, Marani Health plans to target health systems and insurance plans to drive adoption at scale, seeking to mitigate the impact of travel barriers and limited infrastructure on maternal health outcomes.
