The collaboration integrates Gong cha's customizable menu—ranging from fruit teas to signature milk foam beverages—directly into the existing operations of Ladle & Leaf, a chain known for scratch-made soups and sandwiches. By utilizing a licensing format that requires minimal equipment changes, Gong cha allows operators to tap into a new revenue stream while maintaining brand consistency. Michael Nedelkovich Jr., Vice President of U.S. Non-Traditional Franchise Development, described the move as a blueprint for targeting community-driven environments like hospitals and universities.
For Ladle & Leaf, the partnership serves as a menu enhancement. Steve Sarver, CEO of the foodservice provider, noted that the bubble tea offerings provide a refreshing complement to their existing meal options. This expansion aligns with Gong cha’s broader growth strategy, which aims to surpass 500 locations across the Americas by 2028. Currently, the brand operates over 240 locations in the U.S. and continues to prioritize high-traffic, nontraditional venues to accelerate its footprint.
