Lakewood-Amedex Prepares Phase 2a Trial for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Gel

Lakewood-Amedex Biotherapeutics is moving its flagship antimicrobial candidate, Nu-3, into Phase 2 clinical development, backed by a recent Nasdaq listing and a $7.5 million capital injection. The company aims to address antibiotic resistance by targeting infected diabetic foot ulcers with its proprietary Bisphosphocin technology.

Lakewood-Amedex Prepares Phase 2a Trial for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Gel

CEO Kelvin Cooper outlined a strategy centered on the upcoming Phase 2a trial of Nu-3, a topical gel designed to treat infected diabetic foot ulcers. Recent preclinical data confirmed that the candidate maintains broad-spectrum activity against multidrug-resistant pathogens without interfering with the body's natural healing process. The company has tapped David G. Armstrong, an authority in limb preservation, to serve as Study Chair, with the trial conducted by the Professional Education and Research Institute.

Financial stability remains a core focus following the company's April 2026 Nasdaq debut under the ticker LABT. The firm simplified its capital structure by converting preferred stock and notes into common equity, while securing $7.5 million in gross proceeds to fund operations. With a portfolio of 72 granted patents and 29 pending applications, Lakewood-Amedex is positioning its Bisphosphocin platform as a long-term solution for serious infectious diseases where conventional antibiotics are increasingly ineffective. Shareholders will vote on September 22 regarding a potential increase in authorized common shares to support the company’s ongoing clinical and commercial objectives.
